The Dallas County Hospital has a new service for patients with bringing in a new provider that specializes in spines.

Robey Orewiler is a Physician Assistant (PA)  and he tells Raccoon Valley Radio that he is a  Dexfield, Iowa native and graduated from a high school in the area, then went on to get his undergraduate degree from Mercy School of Health Services in Des Moines, and then his PA degree from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine. Following college, Orewiler explains that he got a job at Iowa Ortho, where he’s worked for the last 23 years. He reveals the aspect that he loves with his chosen profession.

“Being able to operate on patients and having the patients come back in and they’re ecstatic that they feel so much better. So that’s definitely has helped me know that I’m doing the right thing.”

Orewiler admits he wanted to make the transition to DCH because he would be able to connect to Dallas County residents and believes that bringing spinal expertise to the hospital is beneficial. He suggests contacting DCH if someone is experiencing back pain because it can be debilitating and is better if it’s treated sooner rather than later.

Orewiler is a surgeon and works alongside Doctor Trevor Schmitz. People should get checked out by a primary care physician, then could be recommended to see Orewiler. His first day at the hospital was on February 19th. To learn more about spine treatment at DCH, call (515)-465-7684.
