The top eight Class 3A wrestlers have been determined at the Iowa High School State Wrestling Tournament in Des Moines, but the order is yet to be decided. The fourth and fifth consolation rounds, as well as the semifinals were wrestled Friday morning.
Waukee Northwest’s Henry Mohr at 285 was the lone area 3A wrestler in the semifinals. He faced top seed Cooper Martinson of Southeast Polk (Runnels), and lost by a 15-0 first period technical fall. Mohr drops into the Saturday morning consolation semifinal and he’ll place as high as third, as low as sixth, or somewhere in between.
The consolation fourth round was an elimination round, meaning a loss ends the tournament for that wrestler. A win, however, guaranteed that individual a top eight finish, anywhere from third through eighth place. The fifth consolation round determined if a wrestler could finish as high as third, or if they will wrestle in Saturday’s seventh-eighth place match.
