The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.
The Board heard a fiscal year 2026 budget presentation from County Sheriff Matt Harmann, who went over some work he had been doing with County Auditor Dani Fink to rearrange some items in his budget. He told the Board that it appeared that the patrol line in the previous budget had ended up becoming a catch all, so he has been separating things into their proper line items. Harmann explained that many of the vehicles were becoming older than what is normally kept in a law enforcement fleet, and that he would like to replace two vehicles per year for the next six years to get their fleet back into a regular rotation schedule, but he also realizes that there will most likely be times where the budget is tighter and they may have to hold off on replacing vehicles some years. He added that he was also going to be working on having more things that could be reimbursable by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau, and see what other options there might be through the GTSB to help keep the Sheriff’s Office in budget.
