The Greene County Unit of the Salvation Army had another successful fundraising year.

According to Bill Monroe, who is with the local branch of the Salvation Army, he reports that they surpassed their goal of $7,000, by collecting $7,898.51 in donations. He says the annual Red Kettle Campaign during the holiday season brought in $5,365.18, while their first-ever Christmas in July promotion saw another $2,533.33.

Monroe notes that 90 percent of the money they raise stays within Greene County. He points out these funds help families and individuals with essential human needs throughout the year. He also thanks Hy-Vee and Fareway for allowing bell ringers inside their stores and for the businesses that were included in the first-ever “Traveling Kettle,” which included Bauer Built, Syngenta, A&W Family Restaurant, and Hy-Vee Gas.

Monroe encourages anyone to donate at any time of the year to the Salvation Army Greene County Unit at Home State Bank. He appreciates the continued support from everyone in Greene County.
