Last night the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs basketball team would host their final double header of the regular season against the Pella Dutch. The Mustangs would pick up the sweep, with the girls defeating Pella 54-41 while the boys would pick up the sweep defeating the Dutch 58-47.

In the girls contest, the Mustangs would take a huge lead in the first scoring 16 points while the Mustang defense would hold the Dutch to only 4 points. Carlile and Meyer would lead the Mustangs in the first with 5 points a piece, but the Dutch would begin to fire up in the second, staying on the Mustangs heels while scoring 13 points bringing the score to 27-17 after a big three by Long for the Dutch making it a 10 point game. Coming back from the break, the Mustangs would hold on to a 11 point lead, scoring 17 points as Meyer and Smid would begin to fire up in the second half. Meyer would finish with 14 points while Smid would have 11 with 8 rebounds to help the Mustangs defeat Pella 54-41.

In the boys contest, the Mustangs and the Dutch would go back and forth in the first but the Mustangs would take a 16-13 lead ending the first quarter. The second quarter would be electric for the Mustangs, as Cason would end the first half with 14 points, 8 from the free throw line while Luke Lorenzen would have five big points off the bench in the second with a huge dunk helping the Mustangs maintain a 42-28 going into the halftime break. Kyle Cason would continue to dominate in the second half, scoring 12 more points to end the night with 26, going a perfect 14-14 from the free throw line to help the Mustangs pick up a 58-47 victory over the Dutch.

The Mustang girls end their regular season at 17-4 while the Mustang boys advance to 15-5. The Mustang boys are back in action on Tuesday, as they travel to Council Bluffs to take on Lincoln with tip off scheduled for 7pm.
