
The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Basketball teams played their final conference games on Friday, as they honored five seniors.
ADM recognized Aniston Tollari and Kelli Storck on the girls side, and Wyatt Schweiger, Cade Fisher, and Carter Madison for the boys. The Tiger girls lost 48-34 to the Wildcats, as the boys were 67-48 winners. In the girls game, the first quarter saw Carlisle get out to a fast start as they led 17-3. The offense picked up for ADM in the second quarter, but Carlisle kept their foot on the gas pedal, taking a 31-15 advantage into the halftime locker room.
The Tigers came out on fire in the third quarter as they stormed to 15 points, holding the Wildcats to five to cut the deficit to six as they trailed 36-30 heading into the fourth quarter. ADM would score the first bucket in the final frame to get within four points, but never got any closer as they couldn’t quite complete the comeback, falling 48-34 to Carlisle.
The Tigers were led in scoring by freshman Ella Subbert, with 10 points, followed by sophomore Emma Worley, who had six points, and senior Kelli Storck’s five. The Wildcats were charged by junior guard Macy Comito with 21 points, then it was freshman Taylor Thomas, who had 11 points, and junior Ella Smith with five. ADM ends the regular season with a record of 13-9 (9-7 inside the Raccoon River Conference), while Carlisle concludes with a 17-4 record (14-2 RRC).
In the boys game, the Tigers began quickly, racing out to a 22-12 lead after the first quarter. ADM would go on to score 13 points and hold Carlisle to eight points to take a 35-20 advantage into the halftime break. The third quarter saw the Tigers slightly extend their lead to 16, leading 48-32 going into the fourth. Both offenses would keep trading baskets in the final eight minutes as ADM was victorious 67-48.
The Tigers’ junior Hudson Lorensen was the high man with 27 points on the night, with junior Trey Bryte tallying 11, and Schweiger with nine points. The Wildcats were led by sophomore Trey Osterhaus, who had 18 points, followed by senior Jack Norton with 10 points, and senior Calvin Frey, who contributed with seven. ADM improves to 16-4 (13-3 RRC), and Carlisle drops to 7-13 overall (4-12 RRC).
The Tiger girls will now begin region play on Wednesday, hosting Perry in Adel at 7pm. ADM boys is now done with conference play, and will now be in action Tuesday night in Norwalk with the game at 7:15pm. Raccoon Valley Radio will carry both games on the respective nights on K107.9 KKRF.
