The wrestling postseason starts today for the Greene County Rams as they go to Humboldt for a Class 2A District tournament starting at 10 a.m. The top two place finishers in each of the 14 weight classes advance to Des Moines Feb. 19-22 for the Traditional State Tournament. In addition to the Rams and host Wildcats, teams assigned at Humboldt are Perry, North Polk (Alleman), West Marshall (State Center), Southeast Valley (Gowrie), Eagle Grove, and Gilbert.

Ram head coach Kirk Davis and several of his wrestlers have been affected by injury and illness this season. The coach feels good about his team when healthy, and he’s optimistic about a strong showing today.

The tournament in Humboldt was originally scheduled for Saturday, but was moved up to today due to the weather forecast. Raccoon Valley Radio will air updates on the Perry and Greene County wrestlers from Humboldt beginning at 11:40 this morning, then again at 1:40 p.m., 3:40 p.m., 5:40 p.m., and 6:20 p.m.
