The AC/GC Chargers boys basketball team finished off the regular season Thursday night with a game against the Underwood Eagles.
The Chargers started off ahead, finishing the first quarter up 18-9. Both teams scored similarly in the second, and AC/GC went into the halftime break up 31-22. The Chargers came back for the second half geared up for a different performance though, and went up 56-36 to end the third, then kept it in gear for the fourth and finished it off with an 80-52 victory.
The Crafty’s Coffee and Gifts Player of the Game went to Noah Kading, who had a consistent performance throughout the night, helping the team with multiple steals, some rebounds, and at least 20 points. The Dub P Apparel Elite Fit Play of the Game had three Chargers involved, as Mason Wahl was able to come away with a steal, and then passed the ball up to Joe Crawford, who was able to get a few dribbles in before he saw Jathan South up the court all alone, and South went up to put down a slam dunk for the score.
Next week starts the postseason for both teams. The boys will play on Monday night, facing the winner of the game between West Harrison and Exira-EHK, while the girls will play Tuesday against the winner of the game between Interstate 35 and Earlham. Both Chargers teams are ranked highly in their brackets, and will host until the final game should they advance that far.
