The Iowa Girls State Wrestling Tournament began this morning.  This year is the third year of girls wrestling being sanctioned by the Union and the first with a two class system.  Raccoon River Northwest was dominate in the first round.  Nine of the ten wrestlers for RRNW won their opening match.  Cassidy McCallister got the tournament started for Raccoon River in the weight class of 100 with a win over Zoe Sullivan from Ankeny.  The first match for DCG was Nia Kiley falling to Katie Biscoglia from Raccoon River Northwest in the weight class of 105.  Four of those nine won their quarterfinal match.  Dallas Center-Grimes sent three to the second round.  One Mustang would advance past the quarterfinal.

140: Naomi Templeman (Raccoon River-Northwest) defeats Lauryn Metcalf (Ames) (Fall 1:29)

190: Halley Beaudet (Dallas Center-Grimes) defeats Joscelyn Stricker (Cedar Rapids Kennedy) (Dec 8-1)

Cassidy McCallister, Katie Biscoglia, Calista Rodish, Naomi Templeman, and Halley Beaudet all punched their tickets to the semifinal and will wrestle in the Friday morning session.

The consolation bracket for 2A will also be tomorrow morning.  Coming up tonight at 4:30P on the Raccoon Valley Radio Sports Network will have the 1A of the Iowa Girls State Wrestling Tournament.
