With her Condition of the State, Governor Kim Reynolds proposed an Unemployment Insurance Reform Bill.
Senator for District 12 Amy Sinclair says that this isn’t the first time a bill like this has come up, as there was one that was passed a few years ago. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio about that bill.
“Honestly, it was one of the most immediately successful pieces of legislation I’ve ever had the opportunity to work on. We immediately halved, within months, the number of people who were on unemployment insurance and immediately halved the average number of weeks that they were utilizing the system, which to me is great news.”
Sinclair mentions that she’s excited for this new bill suggested by the governor, and that it is already under review by the Senate Workforce Committee. She adds that she’s already been working with the senator that chairs the committee to make sure all the appropriate steps are taken while looking at this bill, and try to keep the state’s economy as strong as possible.
