Last night the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs played host to the Norwalk Warriors for double header basketball action. The Warrior girls got their revenge on the Mustangs, defeating DCG 70-63 while the Mustang boys remain undefeated in conference play defeating Norwalk 60-56 in overtime.

In the girls contest, Norwalk would begin to fire up in the first half and would begin to walk away with the lead as Bailey Birmingham would fit 5 threes in the first half bringing the score to 42-22. Down by 20 in the second half, Macy Meyer and Ava Smid would begin to fire up and cut away at the Warrior lead. Smid would score her first points in the second half, and end the night with 21 points leading the Mustangs in points. Meyer would hit a three in the final seconds of the contest to bring the final score to 70-63 in favor of the Warrior. The Mustangs would never give up and kept fighting, but unfortunately would not be able to regain the lead from the Warriors.

In the boys contest, the Mustangs would take the lead in the first but the Warriors would be right on their tail. Kyle Cason would end the first half with 11 points and three made three pointers. Grady Sigrist would also have three made threes, but the Warriors would be held to only 22 points in the first half securing the Mustangs a 4 point lead going into the break, 26-22. Coming back from the break, Norwalk would begin to fire up, eventually taking the lead from the Mustangs. The Mustangs would tie the game up at 50, bringing the game into overtime. Kyle Cason would hit a big three to take the lead, ending the night with 23 points and helped the Mustangs pick up a 60-56 victory for the Mustangs.

The Mustangs are back in action on Friday night for double header basketball action in Indianola against the Indians. Girls tip off is first at 6pm.
