The Greene County Libraries Association and the Greene County Board of Supervisors are co-sponsoring this year’s movie for youth ages 12 and younger where a limited number of tickets are available for free.
Jefferson Youth Services Librarian Bailey Mount says the recently released movie, “Dog Man,” based on the book series by Dav Pilkey will be shown at the Sierra Community Theatre in Jefferson at 7pm on Saturday, and the first 50 kids 12 and younger will get in for free. Additionally, Mount reveals that with the generous sponsorship by a private benefactor, each of those kids will also receive a free kids tray from the concession stand as well.
Mount explains that this book series has been incredibly popular since the first book came out and she has had to convince kids to read something else because they would want to read the same “Dog Man” book a seventh or eighth time. So she thought this was an easy choice to select the movie to be the free movie night, and with the movie theater manager Sarah Nicholoson’s connections to the public and school libraries, she agreed.
Mount says older siblings and parents can also attend, but with a paid admission. Plus, Mount adds that all children who attend the movie will also be entered into a drawing for a free copy of the original book.
