
Perry athletics saw another major accomplishment be made over the weekend. Friday night Jayette wrestler, Mercedes Ponce, won her 100th match. The senior becomes the second member of the 100 win club for Perry girls wrestling. It only took Ponce three years to reach the mark. Her sophomore season, she won 34 matches. She followed that up with 29 wins and a trip to the State Tournament as a junior. The 105 pounder, won her first match at the Colfax-Mingo District to reach 100 career wins. She finished off the night winning her bracket and qualifying for State.
