An annual event is set to take place tomorrow in the Perry and the Rippey communities, as people need to be mindful of the street closures in Perry.
According to Perry Chamber Director Lynsi Pasutti, the 48th Annual Bike Ride to Rippey (BRR) will experience close to 600 bikers traveling 25 miles from Perry to Rippey and back. She reveals that the city will be shutting down 1st and 2nd Streets, along Willis Avenue, in front of Hotel Pattee, beginning at 6am tomorrow. Pasutti outlines that the route will start at Willis Avenue and 2nd Street, then turn right on Bateman Street, left on 3rd Street, then travel to Park Street, make a left-hand turn towards 1st Avenue, before proceeding out of town. She cautions drivers to avoid those roadways until about mid-afternoon.
“Don’t plan on driving that route, as if it was a parade. So, do encourage people to come out and see that, and cheer on the riders, but just be aware that that’s going on. And then, throughout the day, until at least 3pm, the main route between Perry to Rippey, there will be a lot of bikes on the road, so just be very aware of that.”
Pasutti adds that the riders will navigate north towards Berkley rather than using Iowa Highway 144, which should alleviate some traffic congestion. She says that registration is closed today, but will reopen tomorrow from 8am-1pm at Hotel Pattee. Raccoon Valley Radio’s Big Red Radio will also be in attendance from 8-11am.
