The Guthrie Center Volunteer Fire Department is hosting their annual Casino Night fundraiser tomorrow night.
Secretary/Treasurer Erica Finster says that the event’s entry fee of $50 covers admission, poker chips for the night, and covers the open bar, and that there will be free appetizers catered by Cafe on the Hill. Those attending can also bring cash for additional games like reverse bingo, a card rip game, and raffle tickets for the night’s big prizes. Finster mentions that about 9pm, there will be a short intermission, where an officer from the Iowa Firefighters Association will present Tenure Awards to current and retired members of the department who have served 20 years.
There will also be a live auction during the night, and games and festivities will continue until 11:55pm. At the end of the night, participants will be able to turn in chips and cash for raffle tickets for a chance at one of the two big prizes. There will be eight chances that can be one for a men’s themed prize and a women’s themed prize, and the winner of each will be pulled from one of those eight. The men’s prize includes a Blackstone griddle, a quarter of beef from Van Meter Feed Yard that has been processed by Guthrie County Quality Meats, some spices and a meat thermometer. The women’s prize includes gift certificates to a day spa in Des Moines, and Bravo! Italian Kitchen also in Des Moines.
Proceeds from the night will go back to the department for training and equipment costs.
