As the 2025 Iowa Legislative Session continues, legislators will come across more and more bills that catch their interest.
Representative for District 23 Ray Sorensen tells Raccoon Valley Radio about a bill that he is working on in the Economic Growth and Technology Committee that he chairs.
“The big thing in my committee I’m going to work on this year, and (that I) just kind of visited with the Technology Association of Iowa about, (is) an artificial intelligence (AI) bill and kind of putting the proper fences on artificial intelligence in the state of Iowa, without putting hurdles in front of development. It’s a great technology that I think you don’t want government getting in the way of, but it’s also an absolutely terrifying technology in the fact that the things that it can do and people that it can hurt.”
Sorensen mentions that having a bill that keeps AI in check, without limiting its beneficial uses is extremely important, as the technology touches every industry that you can think of. He adds that being able to keep AI available for help with farming is one key part that he looks to include in the bill, with agriculture being one of the biggest industries in the state.
