Perry girls wrestling has seen tremendous success as a team and as individuals.  5 girls have already had their hand raised at least 30 times this year.  Mercedes Ponce, Ayden Erickson, and Cate Erickson each have 35 victories.  Julie Maylum, who won her 100th match of her career earlier this week, has 34 victories this season while freshman newcomer Harper Peterson has won 30 matches.

The Jayettes have the Heart of Iowa Conference meet tomorrow at Roland-Story as the final tune up before Districts.  Postseason play will send Perry to Colfax on January 31st.  The top two finishes in each weight class from Districts will qualify for the State Tournament that starts on February 6 in Coralville.  Julie Maylum and Mercedes Ponce each qualified for State last year.  Head Coach, TJ Maylum, is hopeful to send more than two this season
