The AC/GC Chargers were on the road once again last night, as they faced off against the Ogden Bulldogs.
The Chargers girls quickly jumped to an early lead, and ended the first quarter up 25-2. The team never looked back, and went into the halftime break up 39-4, finished the third quarter 52-4, and won the game with a 57-7 victory. Many of the younger girls were able to come in and gain some valuable varsity experience, with only one starter being among the leading scorers.
The Crafty’s Coffee and Gifts Player of the Game went to Meranda Gruber, who put up back to back threes just before the half, and took over as one of the main ball handlers when the starters sat to finish the game. The Dub P Apparel Elite Fit Play of the game came in the second quarter, when Karli Kautzky got into a passing lane for a steal, heaved the ball three quarters of the court to Gruber, who then put up the layup for the made shot.
The Chargers boys kept things close in the first half, only being up 9-8 going into the second quarter, and leading 31-27 at halftime. The team really put things into gear in the second half though, as they outscored the Bulldogs 21-6 in the third to extend the lead to 52-33, and then finished the game with a 73-46 victory. The junior varsity squad also got some minutes in this game, as they finished off the last half of the fourth quarter.
The Crafty’s Coffee and Gifts Player of the Game was a toss up between Noah Kading and Payton Policky, who both had over 20 points on the night, along with Joe Crawford, who really shone in the hustle category by being all over the court and menacing the players he defended. The Dub P Apparel Elite Fit Play of the Game went to one play that was implemented in two different quarters, when Crawford drove in amongst the proverbial trees to put a shot up on the Bulldogs starting big man, and made both.
