The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Cheer Team is participating in a world-wide competition soon.
ADM is gearing up to travel to Texas this weekend for the National Cheerleaders Association competition. ADM Cheer Coach Kaitlyn Reams tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the Tigers placed second in regionals back in December, then received a bid in order to make it into nationals. ADM junior Marley Akey shares her favorite aspect about facing other schools.
“Cheering competitions is really fun because it’s a bigger team, and you’re all working for a common goal that you get to achieve.”
Tiger junior Claire Roorda is anticipating the opportunity as it’s been a few years in the making for her.
“We’ve been trying to go since my freshman year and it was really exciting to get to learn that we get to go.”
Sophomore Annika Hillmer feels a little overwhelmed, but is putting her trust in her teammates.
“It’s obviously a little intimidating, given that it’s our first year, but I do feel confident in our girls. I feel like even if we have a rough couple of practices, I feel like we’ll pull it together and just put our best out on that mat.”
The national competition is happening in Dallas, Texas at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center from Friday to Sunday.
