Last night the Panorama Panthers hosted and swept the Nodaway Valley Wolverines in double header basketball action. The Panther girls picked up a 60-55 victory while the Panther boys secured the sweep with a 62-41 victory.
The girls contest would be a back and forth battle, with the Panther girls staying within the fight but finding themselves down for three quarters for the contest. Panorama would stay on the Wolverines in the first, but Nodaway Valley would finish the quarter with a 3 point advantage. With the score at 17-14 to start the second, Panorama would continue to fight but find themselves short by a larger margin, down 36-27 at half. Panorama would wake up in the third, eventually taking a one point lead but the Wolverines would snap back and reclaim the lead to start the fourth, 52-44. After a 17 point quarter, the Panthers continued to chip away at Nodaway Valley’s lead, eventually coming back in the final minute to retake the lead and come out victorious 60-55.
For the boys contest, the Panther boys would take the lead in the first and never looked back, outscoring the Wolverines 16-4. Panorama would continue to keep the momentum, scoring 6 points in the second while holding Nodaway Valley to 15 to hang on to a 22-19 lead going into the halftime break. In the third, both teams would begin to fire up but Panorama would hang on, claiming a 42-35 lead going into the final quarter. In the final 8 minutes, Panorama would begin to walk away with the victory, scoring 20 points to claim a 62-41 victory over Nodaway Valley.
Both Panther teams are back in action tonight as Panorama makes the journey to Van Meter High School. Basketball action against the Bulldogs is set to begin at 6pm.
