The Panorama School Board met in regular session Monday night.

Superintendent Kasey Huebner says that they started off the night with their good news segment, where they heard about the middle school outdoor science class preparing for their bird nature walk. He notes that this program is where the students take 20-30 minutes to walk around and try and see birds in trees and at bird feeders around the community. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that they also heard about the Makerspace teacher Rachel Downing on some of the changes she was making to the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)-based class.

“The Makerspace was formerly kind of an open-ended. She’s making it more specific criteria, problem-solving plans, and creating and building different things and different projects for the kids. So it’s been really fun to see what the kids are able to do, and a lot of it’s just, kids are having fun.”

Huebner mentions that the Board then approved an At-Risk/Dropout Prevention application to the School Budget Review Committee as presented, the annual review of policy 211.1, the first reading of the 800 series of the Boards policies as presented, and a Teacher and Paraeducator Registered Apprenticeship (TPRA) program grant. He adds that the TPRA grant allows the district to hire three paraeducators to earn their teaching certificates.
