On Tuesday the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs basketball teams hosted and swept the Pella Christian Eagles. The Mustang girls advance to 11-2 after defeating the Eagles 65-27 while the Mustang boys now sit at 6-3 picking up a 56-43 victory over Pella Christian.
Defensively, the Mustang girls were on fire, holding the Eagles to single digit points in every quarter, and only allowed six points in the first, third, and fourth quarter. While firing on all cylinders defensively, the Mustangs would consistently find the basket, scoring 14 points in the first and 19 in the second. With the score at 33-15 coming back from the halftime break, the Mustangs would not let off the gas, scoring 16 points per quarter in the second half to claim a 65-27 victory over the Eagles.
The Mustang boys would also find success defensively, only allowing 6 points in the first quarter while scoring 15 of their own. With the score at 15-6 to start the second quarter, the Eagles would begin to gain some rhythm but the Mustangs would never lose the lead, scoring 11 points in the second while allowing 13 for a halftime score of 26-19. Coming back from the break, the Mustang defense would continue to hold on, only allowing the Eagles 12 points per quarter while scoring 30 of their own to claim a 56-43 victory over Pella Christian.
The Mustangs basketball teams are back in action tomorrow night as they travel to Pella High School to take on the Dutch. Play by play coverage begins on KDLS2 at 5:50pm.
