The January edition of the Ag Coffee series with Greene County ISU Extension is happening tomorrow.

Extension Director Jeff Lamoureux invites everyone to January’s topic of Soil Health with ISU Extension Agriculture and Natural Resources Specialist Ethan Thies will be leading the discussion. Topics that will be covered include the five principles of soil health, the benefits of improved soil health, how to implement those practices and how to evaluate a field for soil health. Being a former Extension Council member and now the Director, Lamoureux talks about how decisions are made to put together topics for the various Ag Coffees, with tomorrow’s program being the first time soil health has been the featured subject.

“You know, we’re trying to find some different topics and not always have the same things. So this was kind of discussed that soil health was something that hadn’t been (before) and that this would be a topic that might be of interest to those. So (we) said, ‘Hey, why not?’ And that’s kind of listening to people, what’s been popular maybe in some other counties, or around the state, or what people are interested in. So again, we’re trying to offer some different topics for those in the ag community.”

Tomorrow’s free Ag Coffee is from 9:30-11am at the Greene County Extension Office in Jefferson. The program is sponsored by Heartland Bank.
