Paton-Churdan traveled to Dunlap on Tuesday night for a girl/boy basketball doubleheader in the Rolling Valley Activities Conference. The home team won the girls’ game, 52-18, with the boys’ game going to BV by a score of 53-45.
The Rockets fell to 1-11 on the girls’ side while the Bulldogs improved 6-7. Alivya Smith had 10 points for the Rockets with four by Ella Tasler. Both are sophomores. Mariah Talkena had 13 points for BV with 12 by Morgan Hast. The home team led 35-8 at intermission.
The P-C boys fell to 5-6 while the Bulldogs improved to 4-8. Coach Josh Cerveny told Raccoon Valley Radio his team started slowly and battled to try and catch up. Sophomore Trevon Keely led the Rockets in scoring with 18 points, followed by 11 from Kinnick Steimel. Unofficially, Keely had seven rebounds with five from sophomore Bryce Stephenson and four by Streimel. The coach said this game was one of Steimel’s best. Junior Cayden Stream had nine points. The coach added it was a very frustrating, very physical game, but a learning opportunity.
