Longtime high school sports rivals Perry and Greene County played Heart of Iowa Activities Conference basketball in Jefferson on Tuesday night. The visiting teams won both games with the Jayettes victorious by a 38-27 final, and the Blue Jays winning, 68-27.

The Jayettes napped a nine game losing streak to improve to 2-7 in conference play and 4-9 overall. The Rams are 0-12, 0-8, but were tied at 19-19 at halftime and the final margin was by far the closest game the Rams have had this season. Sophomore Lily Myers had 18 for for the Jayettes and she led all scorers. The Rams were led in scoring by 14 points from junior Kaycee Pittman with eight by sophomore Makenna Ebersole and five from junior Jennifer Robbins. The Rams led 25-24 late in the third quarter and were out scored 14-2 the rest of the way. In the Heart of Iowa, Perry is 4-9 overall.

The boys game was all Blue Jays as the Rams not only were cold when they did get a shot, but they had 13 first quarter turnovers and 33 for the game. Twenty-three of the turnovers were in the opening half. The Rams had no one in double figures for points and were led by junior Rafe Michaelsen with eight. The Blue Jays had 20 points from Gustavo Drahos and 18 from Owen Myers. Perry is 6-3 in the conference and 7-4 overall while the Rams fell to 3-9 overall and 1-7 in league play.
