A cheerleader from Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School shares the process of learning how to take criticism and use it to become better alongside her teammates.
ADM junior Claire Roorda tells Raccoon Valley Radio that she’s been cheering for five years after her interest sparked seeing the team on the sidelines at different sporting events. Now that she’s on the sidelines herself cheering, Roorda enjoys interacting with the student section because they’re filled with a lot of her friends. She illustrates that her coaches are teaching her proper ways to utilize criticism she’s given.
“I’ve learned how to accept feedback because that’s really a skill that you have to learn because a lot of people don’t have it. I speak from experience and I’ve really learned how to do that.”
The ADM Cheer Team qualified for the National Cheerleaders Association competition January 24-26th in Dallas, Texas, and Roorda says that she’s nervous going into it, but has full confidence in her team that they’ll perform well.
