
Greene County hosted non-conference opponent Manson-Northwest Webster at the high school in Jefferson on Monday night in games heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleradio.com. The visiting team won the girl/boy doubleheader, 64-36 in the girls’ game and 70-32 in the boys’ contest.
The Rams fell to 0-11 in girls’ basketball and the Cougars improved to 4-8, but the Rams did reach a season high in points scored. Sophomore Makenna Ebersole scored 17 points, a career high. Junior Kaycee Pittman added nine points including two three-point field goals. Sophomore Sara Morlan had nine points, also a career best. Senior Sophia McCollough had 25 points to lead the Cougars.
The Cougars are 9-3 and the Rams 3-8 in boys’ basketball. Senior Logan Moline of M-NW led all scorers in the boys’ game with 25 points. Greene County was led in scoring by junior Rafe Michaelson with 10 points. The Rams trailed 38-12 at halftime and 15 turnovers in the first 16 minutes was one reason why.
There are three more girl/boy basketball doubleheaders in Jefferson this week with the Perry teams tonight, PCM (Monroe) on Thursday, and Grand View Christian (Des Moines) on Friday. All can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
