With colder temperatures being more normal this winter season, one outdoor activity that thrives under below freezing temperatures is now up and running in the city of Jefferson.

Matt Wetrich, the Jefferson Matters Executive Director and Jefferson City Council member, says the city’s ice skating rink is open for people to use for free.

“If you have skates, definitely come on out or if you just want to play around on the ice. I know there’s some families that love hockey and different ice-related things. Come on out, it’s free, the city just filled it up here this week and yeah take advantage of that!”

Wetrich says the ice skating rink is located just west of the city swimming pool. Wetrich adds that you must provide your own ice skates as the city does not have any to rent.
