The Paton-Churdan basketball teams are coming off a pair of road wins at Storm Lake St. Mary’s on Tuesday with girl/boy doubleheaders in Churdan tonight and Friday. West Bend-Mallard is the opponent tonight in non-conference play and Rolling Valley Activities Conference rival Woodbine travels to Churdan tomorrow.

Coach Tom Kennedy’s girls’ squad is 1-8 after a 39-35 win vs. the winless Panthers to put an end to a 32 game losing streak dating back to the 2022-23 season. Unranked West Bend-Mallard has a 9-0 season record.

Coach Josh Cerveny’s P-C boys are 4-4 while WB-M is 2-6. Both teams have one-sided victories vs. Storm Lake St. Mary’s. The Rockets have won four of their last five games, something a P-C boys’ team had not accomplished since the 2017-18 team won four in a row.
