The Greene County School Board met in regular session Wednesday evening.

The meeting started with two retirement resignations for Elementary Physical Education Teacher Sean Thompson and Elementary Teacher Michelle Wilkening each for their respective 32 years of service to the district. Then, Superintendent Brett Abbotts acknowledged varsity head wrestling coach Kirk Davis who recently won his 250th dual meet victory.

Board Vice President Michelle Fields gave a facilities update. She said they received the finalized number of toilets needed for the restroom renovations at Linduska Field and were waiting for the approval by the state, since the figures are much lower than what the state requires for the capacity of the facility. She added that a committee is going to be created to come up with a finalized and achievable list of items for other renovations to Linduska Field.

Next, the Board approved seven school driving permits including Sophia Price, William Thorp, Mia Murphy, Logan Binkley, Jonas Woodley, Lana Silbaugh and Ella Hoffman. They also approved four fundraising requests as presented, the slate of 2024 baseball and softball coach’s contracts, and two School Budget Review Committee requests for administrative costs to Grandwood for two students for a total of $13,937 and Woodward Academy for two students for a total of $8,312. Additionally, the Board approved an agreement with Heartland Area Education Agency for provision of special education services for next school year, two Trane service agreements as presented and first readings of two amended board policies with slight language changes, and waived the second reading for final adoption.
