Monday night a semi truck and trailer caught fire on Interstate 80 near the Adair exit.
According to sources, emergency crews were called to the scene around 6:30pm near mile marker 76, south of Adair on the interstate for a report of a semi on fire in the westbound lanes. Once firefighters arrived on scene, they found the semi to be engulfed in flames. The westbound lanes of the interstate were closed, with a detour for traffic put in place. Regular traffic was allowed to resume on the interstate around 10pm. Sources say that the driver of the semi was able to escape safely, and that it is believed that the fire began in the engine or cab area before spreading to the trailer.
