The leader of a state-wide institution, that houses a campus in Perry, expresses his gratitude towards his dedicated employees.

Des Moines Area Community College VanKirk Career Academy Director Eddie Diaz has been in his role since 2018, and tells Raccoon Valley Radio that it takes a village to help students accomplish their dreams. He explains that he is fortunate to have such a strong team around him with Academic Advisor Tom Lipovac by his side. Diaz indicates that all the employees have passion to further students’ development in their craft.

“It’s really nice to be able to see the impact that we’re able to make. Every year, we are able to show a growth and a couple years from down the road, we’re able to see where they’re at in their careers. So, it’s nice to be able to open doors for them.”

Diaz feels extremely grateful to provide students with mentorship for a particular career they’re interested in. DMACC specializes in the healthcare industry, wielding, education, criminal justice, and industrial technician.
