The AC/GC Chargers basketball teams are back in action tonight, as they host the Des Moines Christian Lions.
The Class 2A number 15 Chargers girls are 6-0 and looking to keep their streak alive for the season, while the 7-3 Lions look to continue their win streak against AC/GC, turning the series history to 27-1. For the Chargers, junior Camdyn Richter leads the team in scoring and rebounds, putting up 18.3 points and pulling down 6.5 rebounds per game. Senior Shay Lemke leads the team in assists, dishing out 8.2 per game. For the Lions, Addy Oetker leads in all categories, recording 15 points, 10.4 rebounds and 4 assists per game. Chargers Head Coach Brad Baudler says that one place he hopes to try and capitalize on is in the paint, as the Lions don’t have a traditional post player.
For the boys, the Class A 7th ranked 6-0 Chargers look to continue the unbeaten streak this season, as the Class 3A 7th ranked 7-1 Lions look to avenge their one point loss to AC/GC from last year. For the Chargers, senior Jathan South leads in points with an average of 20.4 per game, with fellow senior Payton Policky leading in rebounds with 11.6 per game. Senior Noah Kading leads the team in assists with an average of seven, and an impressive assist to turnover ratio of 3.2. For the Lions, Seaton Ingram leads in scoring and rebounds, putting up 18.3 points and hauling in 8 rebounds per game. Sophomore Davis Tokheim leads in assists with four per game. Chargers Head Coach Lance Kading says that the two teams are fairly similar on paper, especially in rebounds, assists and steals per game. He adds that with the Chargers averaging 80 points per game, and the Lions allowing an average of 37.6 points per game, something will have to give and one team will come out on top.
Tipoff for the girls game begins at 6pm, with the boys to follow at 7:15pm. The Raccoon Valley Radio Sports Network will begin pregame coverage half an hour before the girls game starts on the KKRF2 online live stream.
