The Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs girls basketball team traveled to Williamsburg High School on Friday night to take on the Raiders. Both teams entered Friday night’s contest with seven wins, but the Mustangs would come out on top against the Raiders, 59-41.

The Mustangs defense had a stellar first quarter holding the Raiders to only 7 points, allowing the Mustangs to establish a 14-7 lead going into the second quarter. Williamsburg would begin to fire up in the second, scoring 14 points and outscoring the Mustangs by 1, but Dallas Center-Grimes would hang on to maintain a 27-21 lead going into the halftime break.

The Mustang defense would continue to hold on in the second half, containing the Raiders to only 9 points in the third and eleven in the fourth. Meanwhile, DCG’s offense would begin to find the basket, scoring 11 in the third and 21 in the final quarter to secure a 59-41 victory over Williamsburg.

Mustangs basketball double header action continues tomorrow as the Mustangs travel to Norwalk High School to take on the Warriors. Tip of is scheduled for 6pm, with coverage on KDLS beginning at 5:45pm.
