The deadline is approaching quickly for a couple of licenses in the state of Iowa related to the Department of Natural Resources.

Dallas County DNR Conservation Officer Dustin Eighmy tells Raccoon Valley Radio that hunting and fishing licenses will expire on Friday. He outlines that people will need to purchase a new hunting license along with a habitat fee, which vary in prices depending on being a resident of Iowa or not. Eighmy discusses that bow and late mussel loader season are currently open through Friday, and is a great way to get out during the winter season.

“Gives you another opportunity, another chance if you’re not a shotgun hunter (if) you want to go in a season that’s maybe not as less crowded or what not, that late season mussel loader is a great season. The deer are back in their groups, they’re hitting the food sources hard because it’s a little bit colder, (and) getting a warm blind and having an opportunity of shooting a deer.”

Eighmy indicates that Iowa residents under the age of 16 aren’t required to have a license but must be accompanied by a licensed adult over 18 years old. He adds non-resident youths will need to have a preserve license and habitat fee. All the information pertaining to hunting and fishing licenses can be found below.
