Greene County improved to 4-5 in wrestling dual meets with a pair of wins Saturday over Class 1A non-conference opponents in Coon Rapids. Coach Kirk Davis’ Rams defeated Fort Dodge St. Edmond 51-12 and Coon Rapids-Bayard 57-24. CR-B was a winner over the Gaels by a 54-5 score.

The action was the first of 2025 for all three teams and was sponsored by the Iowa National Guard. Wrestling was held on a National Guard mat and the CR-B wrestlers wore Iowa National Guard singlets.

Rams going 2-0 on the day were Brennan Jacobs at 106 lbs. (fall and forfeit), Jaron Jacobs 113 (fall and forfeit), Gavyn Winters 120/126 (fall and 15-9 decision), Romen Sebourn 144/150 (two forfeits), Crew Conner 144/150 (fall and forfeit), Brent Dennhardt 157 (forfeit and 19-4 technical fall), Degan Miller 165 (forfeit and 13-5 major decision), and Marcus Ball (two forfeits). Jacob Harmeyer at 138 lost by fall and won by fall.

The victory vs. St. Edmond was the 250th of Ram head coach Kirk Davis career with many of those taking place at CR-B.

 

Next up for Greene County is a 5:30 p.m. Heart of Iowa Activities Conference double dual meet on Thursday, Jan. 9 in Perry vs. the Blue Jays and Nevada Cubs.
