A local corporation, with a location in Perry made a contribution to help meet food necessities for the community.

According to Perry Food Pantry Manager Lou Hoger, Raccoon Valley Bank donated $2,500 to assist with food needs for less fortunate people. Hoger shares that the money will help cover the increasing cost of eggs, along with other food items. He is grateful to the bank for their support.

“Oh that means a lot. Yeah, that’s several shipments from the Food Bank of Iowa or for purchasing our local purchases. Eggs are almost five bucks, I think I’m going to be able to get some for $5.40. You take $5.40 times 35 customers, that adds up in a hurry.”

Hoger outlines that the money was extremely pivotal in 2024 due to the hardships that Perry has dealt with, including the shooting at Perry High School and the closure of the Tyson Foods Pork Plant.
