The Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center Leos Club has not been around for a long time, but looks to continue into the future.
Advisor Bob Bolton says that the organization was started in 2016, before disbanding for a few years, and then returned two years ago. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio how the AC/GC Chapter of the club got started.
“The Guthrie Center Lions Club wanted to get a volunteer organization over the high school, and that would be called the ‘Leo’s Club.’ And they exist across the country. And we had heard about a really good one in Exira Elkhorn-Kimballton, and so they were kind of our model a little bit. They still do a lot more than we do, but that was kind of our model.”
Bolton mentions that members of the club do volunteer work for the different communities in the school districts of AC/GC, and that they enjoy being able to help the different organizations and entities that they work with, like Main Street Guthrie Center, food pantries in Guthrie Center, Casey and Adair, along with Meals on Wheels.
