The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors held their first meeting of the new calendar year.
The Board named Supervisor Maggie Armstrong as the new Chair for 2025, with Supervisor Steve Smith as the Vice Chair. They then approved keeping the same paid holidays for county employees as in 2024, as well as keeping meeting dates the same for Tuesdays at 9am, along with Thursdays at 9am while they are working on the budget for the next fiscal year.
The Board approved the News Gazette and Stuart Herald as their certified publications, and adopted the federal mileage reimbursement rate of 70 cents per mile, along with making annual appointments and filling Board appointed positions. A list of those appointments can be found in this story online. The Board then approved resolutions permitting to appointing the 2025 compensation commission, allow the auditor to approve charges without Board approval per Iowa Code, give the County Engineer right of final acceptance, and install a master matrix for large animal confinement operations.
