With housing continuing to be a top priority for the city of Jefferson, one aspect is moving along that started last fall.

Jefferson City Administrator Scott Peterson says a survey with ISU Extension and the Rural Housing Readiness Assessment had just under 400 responses that were collected. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio as the data from the survey is being analyzed with ISU Extension and their Community and Economic Development Department, a committee will meet later this month to work through the assessment process, with a goal of establishing an action plan to implement different housing projects.

Peterson shares his thoughts on working with ISU Extension and their success from this program that they have had with 42 other Iowa communities.

“What I like about this maybe more than anything else is a very structured way to look at your housing in your community and through this well tested, structure come up with some priorities that fit the Jefferson community specifically.”

Peterson appreciates everyone who took time to fill out the survey and is excited to possibly see a project happen later this year.
