The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Bowling teams are trying to start the program off right by creating a nice healthy culture.
ADM is in its debut year of having bowling after partnering with Waukee High School for the past number of years. There are 22 athletes between the boys and girls, with each consisting of 11 individuals. Tigers Boys Head Coach Jason Kilker expresses that Girls Head Coach Sarah Boesen and him get along great, as they both started out as middle school teachers.
“We’ve had a connection for many years. We’re both wanting to be organized and so that kind of helps that we’re able to communicate with one another. We’ve got a big help from Bryce (Smith), the owner of Adel Family Fun Center, he’s really been helpful as far as making times, and working with us for practices and getting lanes how we want lanes and he’s been really good to work with.”
Despite early struggles, Kilker emphasizes that all the bowlers are having fun being around each other. The girls are 0-5, while the boys sit at 2-3 on the season. ADM will resume play on Monday against Pella Christian at the Adel Family Fun Center, starting at 4pm.
