Greene County Medical Center recently announced a newer service starting up in January.
According to the medical center, Dr. Alexander Menning has been brought on as a board-certified colorectal surgeon and will be providing outpatient services starting January 22nd. Dr. Menning is with the Iowa Digestive Disease Center and will perform certain procedures such as endoscopy and proctoscopy, hemorrhoid banding, condyloma treatments, suture, drain and port removals; abscess drainage, seton removal and tightening, tumor biopsy, skin tag/papilla excision, fissure management, stoma evaluation, and post procedure follow-ups.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Laurie Connolly is proud to have these services brought to the medical center because of how specialized this field is and to save local residents time and money from traveling out of county for these kinds of services.
Dr. Menning has a bachelor’s degree from Northwestern College in Orange City and his medical degree is from Des Moines University. His residency was done at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan in general surgery, and for his colorectal surgery fellowship, that was done at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky.
According to the medical center, Dr. Menning will be in Jefferson the third Wednesday of the month, with appointments beginning on February 19th. To schedule an appointment, call the medical center at 51-386-2114.
