The Jefferson Police Department recently had one of its newest officers graduate from a certification training program.
According to the department, Noah Luther is now a fully certified police officer having graduated from the 16 week Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in Des Moines. Police Chief Mark Clouse says with Luther back from training, their last new hire, Trevor Hansen will be leaving to attend the “shortened ten week” academy training program in April. He shares his thoughts on how the newest additions to the department have been doing so far.
“I think they’ve both taking on the role well. I think they’re both a very good fit, but more importantly in our community, I think they fit well. I’ve had a lot of compliments on both of the officers. They’re both, Noah more than Trevor, but Trevor has grandparents locally and Noah is right here in town, so I think that connection really helps, but no, they’re both doing good. I would say that they are right where they should be for the time that they’ve been working with us.”
Clouse notes that because Hansen will be leaving for training in the spring, he does not foresee hiring their eighth and final officer position until Hansen comes back.
