Those interested in the field of conservation should know that there are multiple ways to get involved.

Guthrie County Conservation Director Brad Halterman says there’s a variety of jobs for those who believe that conservation is their calling. He mentions that the state of Iowa is a great place to be involved with conservation and the outdoors.

”Sometimes I talk to folks, and the county conservation system with all the facilities they have can sometimes be overlooked. But there are just some fantastic parks and museums and recreational trails and wildlife areas and walking trails.”

Halterman explains that individuals can have a conservation related degree from a two or four year college for positions like his, or they could do seasonal work and help out when conservation departments need extra hands.
