Two Greene County High School students get to perform as part of a special choir tonight.
Choir Director David Heupel says Noah Hinote and Carter Petterson will be singing with several other high school choir students from the central Iowa area, alongside with the world-renowned “The King’s Singers.” He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that he nominated both Hinote and Petterson after receiving an email from a retired choir director about the opportunity for this all-male ensemble. Heupel points out the reason why he thought Hinote and Petterson would be great to experience this opportunity because they both have performed in the conference honor choir and with Petterson being selected for All-State this year, to sing with The King’s Singers is something that doesn’t come along very often.
Heupel reveals that he got to experience The King’s Singers in 2015 at a national choral directors conference and he was completely impressed by the a capella group from the United Kingdom and has been familiar with them for most of his career. He adds that he is excited to have Hinote and Petterson learn more about a group of this caliber. Tonight’s concert takes place at 7:30pm on the campus of Drake University.
