Paton-Churdan
A 51-25 loss for the Paton-Churdan girls’ basketball team on Monday at Tri-Center (Neola) dropped the Rockets to 0-5 on the season while the Trojans improved to 1-4. The Trojans led 30-6 at halftime. The non-conference contest came about because West Harrison (Mondamin) isn’t fielding a girls’ basketball program in high school this season and both were scheduled to face WH. Left without an opponent, the two schools scheduled a game with each other. Sophomore Kaliyah Minnehan scored 14 of the Rockets’ points. Senior Grace Cullum added six points. T-C had 16 points from Hayden Thomas.
WH does have a boys’ basketball program and the Rockets play the Hawkeyes in Mondamin starting at 5 p.m. today in Rolling Valley Activities Conference play.
