The Greene County Fair Board is looking to make an upgrade to improve the overall experience for youth at the county fair.
Fair Board Vice President Katlynn Mechaelsen tells Raccoon Valley Radio they want to build a permanent structure for photo opportunities that is large enough to accommodate all species of animals that are shown at the Greene County Fair. She explains that currently there is a backdrop that was donated and they will continue to use it. However, Mechaelsen points out the backdrop is inside the show ring and the proposal would have a space outside so that all 4-H’ers could use it without interrupting a show that is happening in the show ring.
Mechalesen says the Fair Board is estimating the cost of the project to be $22,000 and they have several sponsorship levels that would be a one-time donation for this specific project. She states that the Board thought that with donation levels, ranging from $100 to $750, allows businesses and private donations to be more attainable. She notes that families could also donate with a designation “in honor of” or “in memory of” a loved one who served in 4-H. She stresses that this is meant as a one-time donation with yearly contributions that are made are still needed.
