The Greene County School Board met Wednesday night in regular session.
The Board approved four School Budget Review Committee requests. The first one was for authorization to access an additional $132,918 for an increase of enrollment of 16 students. The second request was to gain access to an additional $25,923 for three students that were part of the open enrollment out from last year to this year. Next was a request for $11,954 of additional funds for students that were English Language Learners Weighted Beyond Five Years. The final request was for $471,585 for funds to be used on the At Risk and Dropout Prevention Program.
Next, the Board approved one school driving permit for Hanna Fouch, six fundraiser requests as presented, a $71,713 quote from RHT Technologies to install a new alert system, clock replacements and paging system at the elementary school; and a notice to proceed with Story Construction as the Manager At Risk for the solar panel project. They also approved the first readings of new board policies about the disposition of a complaint form and personal use of student-owned laptops and mobile devices as presented, as well as amended board policies for weapons in the school district with a recommendation from the Iowa Association of School Boards that does not allow staff to carry a firearm on school grounds.
