An organization in the City of Adel is inviting the public out to a special ceremony tomorrow.

The Adel Historical Museum is holding a dedication event to install the new front door tomorrow at noon. Adel Councilwoman Shirley McAdon tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the museum had a budget of $9,060 to make improvements and was given a $5,000 grant from the Dallas County Foundation. She emphasizes that the main entrance needed attention.

“This project came about in noticing that the front door had some deterioration of the wood framing and it was pulling away from the bricks. And so to make a more secured entrance not only to preserve the building but for security and for a door that would weather better, and also to stabilize that door with a new metal beam across the top, just was in order.”

McAdon says that the City of Adel will cover the remaining $4,060 for the new door. She details that the historical museum has been in operation since 1857, and that the ceremony will launch a couple of open houses for the museum tomorrow and Sunday to showcase the rooms decorated by Nadine Law and Aubrey Dunbar for the holidays. McAdon mentions that the open houses are free with showings from noon to 4pm tomorrow and Sunday. The installation of the new door will take place tomorrow at noon.
