With so many holiday festivities happening this weekend in Greene County, a major celebration is taking place later tonight in Grand Junction.
The annual Jingle Into Junction takes place at the Grand Junction Community Center from 5-6:30pm. Co-organizer Barbara Hunter says a meal will be served by the Horizons Club of a chicken noodle bake for $7 for adults, $5 for kids 6-9 and five and younger can eat for free. She notes that there is also a silent auction that will benefit the Horizons Club. Hunter states that the proceeds will be used by the Horizons Club to purchase gift cards to Fareway, which are then distributed to families that are less fortunate in Grand Junction.
Hunter says the Naked Ladies Garden Club has a gift booth with ready-made gifts for purchase and a cookie walk. She points out proceeds from their fundraisers will be used to continue to beautify the community with plantings. Hunter says other entertainment includes Tyler Gathercoal playing live music from 5-6pm, followed by a family-friendly holiday clothing apparel contest. She explains that the winners for the adult and kid categories will be determined by who gets the loudest applause.
Hunter adds that this event brings the community and others together to share a meal and conversation during the holiday season. Additionally, Santa Claus will be at the Grand Junction Fire and Rescue facility at the same time with free hot cocoa.
